I cancelled on this guy twice in a row because of a family emergency. What do i do?

You are reading way too much into what he told you or text you. I agree with you calling him and giving him a brief explanation of what happened. I bet he will accept your apology fast and say that is "no problem" and still wish you and your family well. If he thought that you were blowing him off he may have text something like "ok, whatever" and be done with you. If you like this guy then call him. You have nothing to lose but a lot to gain. You will feel so much better just knowing that you did the right thing no matter if he ever talks to you again or not. But I truly think he will want to see you again. (smile)
