So yes Daisy lives in an imaginary world but Gatsby lives in a world where he is used to getting everything.

Like just being born in the USA or even now "undoented citizens". If somebody works 40 hours a week, yes they are entitled to get paid for what they WORK for. How is that that somebody that is just here (legally or illegally) entitled to anything?, yes school (for the legals), an opportunity to succeed and be treated equal (not affirmative action). But not Welfare, Section 8, Free Medical, Food Stamps, Day care and on and on. These are not entitlements, these are give aways, taken from those that earned that and ped out to those that don't deserve anything, just because they live here and reproduce more. Yes some here need aid, but not a "life-style" for generations. Those on "Social Security" paid into that and deserve to get paid. No we can't toss them to the streets, but don't make it enticing to be worthless. Those able-bodied on welfare should be required to go to a Church, abandoned school, anywhere and just stay there for 40 hours a week to get anything, yes take their babies with them and just stand there for 40 hours..

My 9 yr old does very well in school and we have been told by every teacher that he is extremely bright. The problem is that he also cries very easily and disrupts the cl this way. We took him to a doctor who confirmed that he was intellectually above his peers, but his abilities at emotional control are lower. He told us it is called asymettrical learning (sorry if the spelling is wrong). In this case a child developes at two rates. Their intellect is sped up but basically "something else has to give in order for one thing to be more than the norm". In this case, it is emotions. At his age he is already well versed on ancient history, read the Iliad and the Odyessy but will cry at school if he loses his place in line (to lunch, for example). We have had to go into the school to talk to the teacher about him correcting her (he was right, proved it and she didn't like that) but also to talk about emotional outbursts. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Suggestions, please.

Okay so .. long story short.. I've been wanting colored contacts..so my mom set up an appointment for an eye exam... i have 100% vision and dont need a prescription... i was supposed to do a contact fitting, but that costs 80 dollars to do.. and the lady that did my eyes said that she couldnt blow into my eyes without me closing them or jumping away (theres a machine that goes right in front of your eye and blows a hard stream of air) .. she said if i can't do that, then there's no way of me putting on contacts.. so then my parents were like.. okay we'll go home and think about it, and come back another day. So that lady told me to practice touching my eye and getting used to being close to my eye. So i can touch the white part a little... but i'm wondering, does it hurt to touch the actual color part? because it seems like it would. and the contact goes there, so does that mean it will hurt? D: ... the lady said "when you come back, i have to put the contacts on your eye myself, and then you have to put it on twice yourself, and take it off twice because we can let you leave with contacts." Okay so... i can understand ME putting them on... but SOMEBODY ELSE? Isn't that going to be harder for me?? I can't stand someone being so close to my eye, and the anticipation of her placing the contact will KILL me. Help? Advice? What i can do to relax? I think the companys name was cyber spyware but im not sure. so, being as freaked out as i was, i ran the scan that they were providing and it started installing stuff. So then once i saw it installing stuff, i shut down my computer in case it was a scam. I am running scans right now on my computer to make sure that there are no viruses, and there dont seem to be. (i use norton securitys scans) Was it just a scam do you think? Has it happened to you?

One that progresses from simple progressions to more complicated, while asking the musician at first to perform simple tasks, like running through the scales and then later in the book asking them to focus on loftier more abstract or technical goals like motif development or coloring outside the lines or sequencing or anticipation. My brother is in his second year of college and I am in my first year. He want to become a police officer/state trooper and move higher to FBI/CIA ect. My friend joined the Army National Guard, he's in all reserve but might get deployed in 2010. Two questions about Corn Snakes.?

Long Haired Cats VS. Crawling Baby?

I have 2 long haired cats. Besides the usual shedding issues, they also have quirks that I consider to be extremely unsanitary. One of them eats WAY too fast, and vomits (We've taken him to a vet, and there is nothing seriously wrong, he just eats too fast). And the other has recently decided to pull terds out of the litter box, and bat them around the house. I dust and vac 2 to 3 times a week for the hair. That I can deal with. However, the sanitation issues with the poop-play, and the vomiting is really worrying me. I can't imagine letting the LO crawl on the floor in the living area (which is where the cats live). They get litter everywhere too. What happens if LO eats bits of litter?? I love my kitties, but I am at my whit's end here... I am thinking that the only thing that makes sense is re-homing the kitties, but they are so sweet.... I am so saddened to even have to think about this, but I feel it may be necessary for my LO. BAD BAD behavior in children?

I have a son who is 12 and he is BAD! I feel like I am at the end of my rope and about to lose my sanity! I don't even know where to start except to say he has been bad for many years: Been to many different doctors/counselors, He is explosive, disrespectful, just nasty as can be. He lies, he steals, he sneaks, he takes anything that isn't nailed down; just because he wants to. I finally out of desperation tried medication and he is takes Zoloft and now concerta and they have helped some with the explosive behavior. I have had to have him arrested for domestic violence because he has struck me and he is just out of control! He has encopressis (where he poops his pants) and at this point, I don't know if he does it on purpose or if he has a true medical problem. He is lazy and have battles on a daily basis because he tears the house/yard up like a tornado hit it and refuses to clean up after himself. The other day he walked ped the bathroom and peed in my laundry in the laundry room. Clearly an act of defiance. But I just don't understand why!!!! I have 5 other children who are nothing like this. I beat myself up thinking I did something wrong to cause the way he is acting but I have done nothing at all different with him than I have with my other children. I am consistent with my parenting. I punish and follow through; groundings, taking away favorites,Hell, I have even tried , which I don't believe in, NOTHING WORKS! He gets in trouble in school (suspended, detentions, off the bus for weeks at a time) and the thing is he is so manipulative, he turns the water works on in a second and I can't even tell if he truly is remorseful or working me! I can call his probation officer and have him locked up and pray that something turns around but I feel in my heart that it isn't going to help but I am so honestly sick of living this way that I am willing to try it. No one will take him to give me a break because he lies and steals so much. He is ruining my marriage, my life, my other kids. I can't count the times I have to leave work because of the crap he pulls or how he tries to pit my husband and I against each other or lies and says the other kids are doing things and they aren't. He makes everyone else's life just miserable and the sad part is I think he enjoys it. He has been diagnosed with ODD and works with two counselors and a psych doc and doc says ODD, counselor says that and bi-polar but I don't even know anymore. The counselors just don't know what to do anymore. They feel he needs more, but have no answers or direction to point me in. The psych doc just says, Oh don't do that anymore and of course his charm is thick for the hour we sit in the office. I faithfully take him to appointments once a week and nothing is working or improving! He has been in counseling since he was 5!!!! I just want help to not live like this anymore. I feel like I am losing MY mind battling every single day to deal with him and everything he does. If anyone has any advice or direction, please, please help me!

I have something that I really want to get off my chest. I am single, unemployed and broke. My husband and I have had a rough year as far as our relationship goes. We have been married for 7 years. About a year ago we (he) had the bright idea of swinging. So we did. Not so great turnout. He was talking to the girl in the couple for like 3-4 hours a day, every day. I told him that she was trying to get him to leave me but he didn't believe me until she said something about it. Either way, I had told him to stop talking to her and he became really depressed. So we finally ended that. About 5 months after that (5 months of him not really wanting to hang out with me, staying in his little rec room all day everyday and him still being depressed that it had to end) I cheated on him. I stopped it during the middle of it but what was done was already done. I told him right away and he begged me to stay. Of course I wanted to stay so I did. We have been working at trying to get past all of this for the past 6 months. We have been doing well. I mean we obviously have times where it comes up and it hurts but all in all we are doing well. He has always been back and forth about having kids (for the entire time we have been together). But after all of this he told me he was ready to have kids but since what happened he doesn't know if he wants to have them now. I understand his point for the most part because you can never be too sure about what will happen after all the betrayal. But sometimes I think he just said that to make me feel bad about what happened and try to get back at me because he knows I want kids. Question: Which reason do you think he said it for? How can I improve my voice/vocal range?

Every year, my school goes to this convention (next on is on October), and this year's will be my last. I join the choir every year, and maybe a quartet or trio. I'm an alto, but I have also performed the soprano part of several songs, although I can't go quite as high as my friend, who is strictly a soprano. I'd like to know if there are any other vocal exercises or such that will help me improve my voice or vocal range. Breathing exercises and vocalizations would help as well. Other techniques to help me sing louder or with more power would be helpful as well, as our choir conductor says my voice is nice, but I need to sing loudly. (I'm generally a shy person).

Ok, for almost a month, my car would die all of time when I stopped. After all of this, my starter's end cracked off. I had push it to a lot of a famous repair place. So, I had them look at it, they called. The said I needed a new batteery, then a starter. For looking at it and a $99 battery, the total was up to $157. To put a new starter on the cost would've been $401. I told them how much for a starter? They said the cheapest was $245. I flat out said, no and I can buy one myself and put it on. Well, today, I put on the starter, for $54, filedall the spark plugs with a wire brush so they were shiney again, and, I found a vaccun hose was broken off. So, I cut the hose and re-connected it, re-installed the spark plugs, and the car runs like new again! My question is...Am I that knowedgable to know how to fig certain problems on my own cars? I spent $200 something, as apposed to $401 for some place to NOT fix my car. What does anyone think?

Can a fuel pump be rebuilt? or Spacer removed?

On my 77 Triumph Spitfire, I have purchased a replacement pump which will not install due to a difference in the curvature of the arm. Can the old one be rebuilt? The other option is where the old one used a spacer, could I remove the spacer and use the new one. I am not a mechanic, but I feel capable, yet I cannot chance doing more damage. Your resume is very impressive! NYU is very competitive though. My bet is that you will make it in. Their average ACT score for incoming freshmen this year was a 32. Your SAT score is right in the middle (of their accepted range of students). But, if you want to stand out, try to increase it, if you already haven't tried to. Have you taken the ACT? If you're more math oriented, that test will be better for you... it was for me. You extracurriculars are spectacular! You've def. covered that part of it- very impressive. Had signs of labor for a day and a half and now nothing for a whole day? whats up?

i am overdue already by 4 days and the day after my due date i finally started showing my first signs of labor soon. sore back and some contractions that were irregular and mild about 34-50 mins apart but i figured hey its a start LOL. but they didnt ever get any worse and closer together...and now everything has stopped completely. this isnt the first time...i was put on bed rest at 29 weeks cuz i was starting early signs of labor but then it got better. then at my 37 week appt the doc said she dropped down and was low then the following week said she came back out of the birth c. whats going on? its like i keep starting and stopping! i know this does happen but geez how long can this go on? i really am wanting to go naturally and not be induced, my doc is already trying to pressure me into induction (ive just canceled my induction for monday morning since all tests came back good for what he thought i had wrong and hes been trying to get me induced since 37 weeks prego since its easier on everyone). i go for an NST on tuesday and im worried i wont be able to stall him any longer on an induction. i know i can go two weeks but he doesnt seem like he wants to let me go that long lol. how long did you toggle with labor before you finally went in? could it possibly just hit me all at once? well i know my water could break but as far as contractions they went away completely it seems. thanks!

Rgiht now we are only able to fill out tank up half way each time and we are broke so comming up with hundreds of dollars to fill it all of a sudden is pretty hard. It's now run out twice this year. Why would I suddenly become ridiculously attracted to a teacher?

I had this teacher last year who was in her mid twenties. she was not only gorgeously beautiful, but really nice and a good teacher. . Hi! I noticed a fish with fin rot a few days ago, and never having had any probs like this before, I did what I thought was right and bought an 8 pack of Maracyn tablets. I have put 3 tablets in each day for the last 2 days (as per the instructions on the back) in my 33 gallon tank. I woke up this morning (the 3rd day) and my tank is very cloudy. I keep my tank at 77 degrees, my ph is 8.0, and I have 2 adult mollies, 4 teenaged platies, I adult mickey mouse platy and an algae eater. I run 2 filters; an Aquaclear 50 and a Tetra Whisper 20-40 gallon. I am stumped...I have never had this sort of prob. The only changes in the last 3 days is the Maracyn and the addition of one adult molly. Any suggestions????
